Leaning on the Right Support

ree

“…and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5b

When life feels uncertain, our minds naturally search for answers. We analyze, overthink, and try to predict outcomes to feel in control. But when we lean on our own understanding, we’re leaning on something unstable—like trying to walk with a broken crutch. It might hold for a moment, but eventually, it gives way under pressure.

God invites us to lean differently—to rest the full weight of our questions, fears, and confusion on His wisdom, not ours. His understanding is whole where ours is limited, eternal where ours is temporary, and peaceful where ours is anxious.

In counseling terms, this is a cognitive shift: moving from anxious “what if” thoughts to anchored “God is” truths. Each time you choose to trust His perspective over your own, you strengthen your faith foundation and calm your emotional storm.

🪞 Reflection:

What thoughts have you been leaning on that keep you anxious, fearful, or doubtful?

Write one of those thoughts down today. Then, find a verse that speaks truth over it.

Start here:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

Let His Word become your steady support.
